Paul Offit: The sense and nonsense of alternative medicine

At The George, June 27 @ 7:30 pm

Tickets – http://sohojune.eventbrite.co.uk/

Paul A.Offit, M.D., is Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, as well as the Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is also co-inventor of of a rotavirus vaccine and a Founding Board Member of the Autism Science Foundation (ASF). He is one of the main figures defending vaccination against accusations that it causes autism.

Paul will be talking about some of the themes in his new book Killing us softly: the sense and nonsense of alternative medicine.  As he reveals, alternative medicine is an unregulated industry under no legal obligation to prove its claims or admit its risks – can actually be harmful to our health.

Dr Offit separates the sense from the nonsense, showing why any therapy – alternative or traditional – should be scrutinised. As he writes, “There’s no such thing as alternative medicine. There’s only medicine that works and medicine that doesn’t.”

You’ll be able to get a ticket from May 30th at 1pm BST.

There will be two types of tickets:
